Soulful, Inspiring, Traditional, Dynamic, Heimish, Joyful, Transformative, prayer can be all that.
The heart of life at Shomrei is our celebration of Shabbat and Jewish holidays. Whether on Friday nights or Saturday mornings, our services, conducted in Hebrew, blend ancient liturgy with both traditional and contemporary melodies to create a powerful sense of spirit and connection. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a room filled with song, and we strive to cultivate that feeling every time we gather.
Our services are led by our rabbi along with a wide range of congregants—adults, teens, and children—fostering participation at every step. Our intimate sanctuary, where everyone sits on the same level and is surrounded by beautiful stained-glass windows, reflects the communal experience we’re building together. A highlight of each service is an inspiring d’var Torah (sermon) delivered by our rabbi or a guest speaker, offering insight on the weekly Torah portion or on current issues facing our community, nation, or world.
We welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds. While our main service is primarily geared toward adults (with children attending religious school on Saturdays), we love hearing the voices of children and always encourage their presence and participation. Toys are available in the back of the sanctuary to help keep little ones engaged.
For younger children, we offer Shabbat Katan, a bi-monthly, 45-minute, interactive service designed for preschoolers and their families. School-aged children are invited to our monthly Hinei Mah Tov family service. Many of our teens are actively involved in the main service, leading prayers, reading Torah, and participating in meaningful ways.
