A happy foursome, including Linda Wieseneck, Leslie Billet, Julie Weinstein and Captain Lynne Kurzweil headed to the Shomrei kitchen on Tuesday afternoon to get the job done. The meal, which has become a standard, included Dry Rub Roasted Chicken, seasoned roasted potatoes, roasted mixed vegetables, a fresh roll, a juicy orange, Oreo cookies and a water bottle. We made sure to include a condiment cup of ketchup for dipping.AP tests preempted Teen MESH this week but Fern, along with dedicated helpers, Carol Blau and Leslie Billet, stepped up at the last minute. This week we had two phases to our meal prep. On Monday, Shirley Grill met Jordan in the kitchen after school.
Fern Heinig planned the meal and provided a shopping list. Lou Hammerman and Sarita Eisenberg were going to do the shopping, but the Shomrei office staff offered to take care of it.
Three summers ago, I was lying on my couch in terrible pain from messing up my back. Every time I moved, I was yelling out loud (it is good I live alone or I would have scared someone), It was a beautiful day and all I wanted was to be outside enjoying the summer, playing golf or tennis or anything, other than being stuck lying on my couch.
