Looking Ahead

Notes from the Lampert Library
We are looking ahead to lots of new books of Jewish interest. Some of them will end up in the Lampert Library. So watch for notices in ShomreiWeek and check the display table in the gallery and the library.

There is also a great website with some free content. jewishreviewofbooks.com

2The Lampert Library also subscribes to the Forward (in English). Reading the Forward regularly is another way to keep on top of the latest in the Jewish Book World. forward.com

3Speaking of the Jewish Book World, individuals may subscribe to the Jewish Book Council’s online newsletter. Reviews are timely and the commentary is frequently fascinating. The Lampert Library subscribe to the Book Council’s print review publication Jewish Book World. The Jewish Book Council is also the sponsor of the National Jewish Book Award. Look for the list of winners soon. jewishbookcouncil.org.

4The Association of Jewish Libraries, the professional organization for librarians who work in Judaic libraries of all types, also publishes reviews of recent and forthcoming books and maintains an active website. jewishlibraries.org

Aileen Grossberg, a professional librarian, is a long-time congregant and serves as volunteer librarian for Shomrei's Lampert Library. The library, one of the best-kept secrets at Shomrei is used by the Rabbi, congregants, students and teachers of the JLC (Hebrew School) and Preschool.
