Happy Birthday Kiddush

The building was teeming with people this past Shabbat with JLC, the Henei Mah Tov service, Tot Shabbat, and the regular service in the sanctuary. The social hall was party-like with birthday balloons and colorful tableware.

What a pleasure to have so many young kids and their parents sharing the space and a very special kiddush lunch.

That first double digit birthday is a big deal for any kid. We were able to be a part of Brian Singh’s entry into “tweenhood.”

Thanks to the kiddush volunteers Brian’s birthday party complete with ice cream, donuts and other kid friendly food, was a huge success.

Brian has grown up at Shomrei. Many of us remember him as a little boy waiting for that first haircut at the traditional age of three. And how often did Brian accompany his mother to services and join Rabbi Greenstein in kiddush on Friday night? As Brian’s mother Sarvenaz (Naz) said, it takes a village and we are the family’s village.

Thanks to Audrey Levitin, Carol Katzman, Charlie Steindel, Linda Ariel, Marc Grossberg, Miriam Haimes, Nick Levitin,  Sharon Hurwich, and Zen Lucey for helping to prepare, set up and clean up on Friday and Saturday.
