Klinger Korner

July 2024

Shalom chaverim (hello friends),

As summer is underway, I wanted to share with you a few of the great things happening at Shomrei. Some are already in place, and others are coming soon. Camp is at full speed, and we enjoy having the children run around and laugh. Thank you to Aylah, Lesley, and Vanessa for running such a wonderful and creative camp.

Did you notice that Kiddush looks a little different recently? It started more than a year ago, with our wonderful Kiddush volunteers who brought quality and variety to our offerings. We have so many more people joining us now that we brought in extra help, hiring a kitchen assistant. His name is Mustafa Laboo, and he’s off to a great start. Join us after services for a taste and a schmooze. And make sure you also say hello and welcome to Mustafa. A shout-out to Meny Vaknin from Marcel’s Bakery and Kitchen for providing delicious recipes and training Musatfa.

The Building and Grounds Committee, led by VP Eric Feldman, has been busy from top to bottom. We continued our multi-year plan of repairing the roof, and it is paying off with no leaks! When everyone returns to the building in September, we hope to enjoy a revamp of the lobby and a newly redesigned reception area and staff offices.

As we look forward to another great year at Shomrei, I would like to thank Rabbi Julie, the Ritual Committee, Aylah Winter, and the Education Committee for getting us ready for the High Holidays in October. More information about the holidays and the great work everyone is doing at Shomrei will come soon.

If you’d like to share your thoughts, chat, or stop by for a cup of coffee, please schedule a meeting with me here.

See you soon,

Ehud
