Meet The Filmmaker
Shomrei to Screen Killing Kasztner
Sunday Dec 7, 2014 4:30pm
Shomrei Emunah Classroom 2
Shomrei Emunah and Montclair State University are co-sponsoring a free screening of the movie Killing Kasztner as part of the Rescue in Budapest: Raoul Wallenberg Commemorative program series. The film will be introduced by the filmmaker Gaylen Ross. Following the film screening there will be a question and answer session.
The movie is about the life and murder of Rezso (Rudolf) Kasztner. He rescued 1,700 Jews who escaped Hungary in 1944 by train and eventually made it to Switzerland. Many people accused him of being a collaborator for negotiating with the Nazis but his name was cleared by the Israeli Supreme Court and his archives are now stored at Yad Vashem. In addition, there were around 15,000 Jewish forced laborers in Strashoff, Austria who were probably saved through Kasztner’s efforts.
Please join us! This is a free event.
Thanks for the notice!
I’m going to update with a bit more info: the free screening will be held at Shomrei, and, as of right now, tickets won’t be required.
