Lampert Library

Online – At Last

online library iconNotes From the Lampert Library

We’re on line-sort of. A few months ago, I wrote about making the Lampert Library’s holdings accessible via the internet. Today (Tuesday, July 7), I entered the first records.

The process will be slow as every book in the library has to be handled, checked and then matched with a record from another source. But it will be done.

Any helpers out there? It’s not difficult. All you need is a computer and internet connection…and some time.

This is a perfect service project for middle and high school students.

Eventually there will be a direct link to the catalog from the Shomrei home page. For the time being, use this link to access the website and see the progress: alm.hl.scoolaid.net/bin/home

If you’d like to help or have comments or requests, please contact me at the library’s NEW mail address which is and check back often to see the progress.

Aileen Grossberg, a professional librarian, is a long-time congregant and serves as volunteer librarian for Shomrei's Lampert Library. The library, one of the best-kept secrets at Shomrei is used by the Rabbi, congregants, students and teachers of the JLC (Hebrew School) and Preschool. It's a tremendous resource completely supported by your donations and gifts. Aileen also heads the Shomrei Caterers, the in-house food preparation group. Can there be any better combination…good food and good books!
