We are very proud of the quality and abundance of our Saturday kiddush meals after services. Breaking bread together is a cornerstone of our Shabbat! Visitors and friends are welcome at our kiddush.
Sponsorship
You can help us carry on this tradition! Members and relatives or friends of members may sponsor a kiddush in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, to celebrate a simcha (happy occasion), an anniversary, a milestone or for any reason at all. Sponsors are acknowledged in our printed Shabbat program, our weekly email newsletter, on a sign at the kiddush and announced from the Bimah at the conclusion of our service.
Co-sponsorship
Oftentimes, groups of people will co-sponsor a kiddush on the same Shabbat to share the cost. For example, we have the tradition of celebrating kids birthdays once a month with a kiddush co-sponsored by all their parents.
Inside Catering
For informal buffet meals, you might choose our "inside" catering. Led by experienced staff and volunteer captains, our volunteer crew can prepare your kiddush at a reasonable cost.
The following are the most frequently selected configurations for sponsored kiddush meals prepared by our inside catering. Each includes hot and cold beverages.
- Nibbles: Fancy cookies, halvah, nuts and raisins, and fruit.
- Spreads: Pita, hummus, baba ganoush, couscous, Israeli salad, avocado salad, grilled vegetables, and dessert.
- Dairy Option: Challah rolls, bagels, cream cheese, Nova Scotia lox, tuna salad, egg salad, whitefish salad, miniature danish, and rugalach.
- Deli Option (as an alternative to dairy options): platters of turkey, roast beef, corned beef and pastrami, served with cole slaw, potato salad, pickles, condiments and rye bread.
- Additional options include hot kugels, poached salmon, and other salads.
Outside Catering
For more elaborate buffet meals or formal table service, We are happy to work with the caterer of your choice. All are welcome to use our kitchen facilities if they can provide evidence of an acceptable form of kosher supervision. Here are some of the local caterers we have worked with.
Lack of Sponsorship
If a particular Shabbat lacks a kiddush sponsor, the kiddush is funded by a donation fund maintained at the congregation. We gratefully accept tax-deductible donations to The Kiddush Fund.
