MESH 1 2016 May 3

From Captain Sara Kravitz:

On a misty cool May evening, Shomrei’s MESH team served a tasty meal to 24 guests. Chef John Lasiter, ably supported by sous chefs Jerilyn Margulies and Deanna London as well as teen volunteers Louis and Max, prepared a menu of green salad and challah, paprika roasted chicken with roasted chick peas and cherry tomatoes, and chocolate matzah peanut clusters.

MESH staffers Adrienne and Bonny kept all the parts of the meal running smoothly along with teen volunteers Siona, Matt, Elisa, Teddy, Amalia, and Louis (yes it was a two-Louis night) as well as pre-teen volunteers Delia and Leah. Guests enjoyed the meal and many left with a complimentary box of matzah left over from Passover.

Calling all MESH volunteers — please use the online Sign Up to indicate when you are working! Access it at shomrei.org/volunteer by clicking the Volunteer button with the colorful hands — it will take you to the Sign Up Genius and then you can click on the MESH tab to access specific jobs and dates. The more we all use this consistently, the easier it will be to see who is helping and to plan.

Also, a note from John, do make sure that the dishwashing is comprehensive. Some pans have had some grease left on even after a wash — use the scrubber and soap and get everything as squeaky clean as you can. Thank you for that — it’s an important job.

Finally, we are out of paper dinner plates — a fresh supply would be most welcome.

Thanks to all —

Captain Sarah Kravits
