Purim Shpiel – PURIM ON BROADWAY!

masthead2Come see “Purim on Broadway” during the Megillah-reading service on Erev Purim, Saturday, March 11th. Time TBA.


Featuring songs from, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Fiddler on the Roof, Mame, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Grease, Chicago, Wicked, Sweet Charity, and Gypsy.  “Purim on Broadway” was adapted for Purim by Barbara Sharf and Joni Klein-Higger of Clearwater, Florida – friends of our new JLC Assistant Director Lily Lucey.  Our production was edited by Lisa Pendola, and directed by Lily Lucey.

Our special cast includes a few young stars – JLC students Natasha H. as our Narrator and Delia K. as Vashti, member Elana F. as Esther.  Our ensemble includes JLC students Talia F., Eve H., Zeke S. and Nathan P.

Returning to the Shpiel stage is Andy Silikovitz as Achashverosh and Lisa Pendola as Mordechai. New Shomrei member Rob Brumer will play the Evil Haman!

Shomrei’s veteran Shpieler Craig Eichner will accompany us on Piano; Violinist Mike Tizhgarten will join us in a cameo appearance. Special thanks go to Carney Mimms, who has served the team as Production Assistant, and Ann Lippel for helping get rehearsals up and running.
