Shabbat provides a change from the rest of the week, a time to disconnect from the day-to-day and reconnect with our friends and family.
Visitors are welcome to all services.
Kabbalat Shabbat
(weekly, most Friday evenings)
A traditional Kabbalat Shabbat service that welcomes in the spirit of Shabbat with song, prayer, and community.
Zamru Fri•PM and Potluck
(monthly, Friday, Sept-Jun)
Welcome Shabbat with a spirited, lively, uplifting service in the round with musical accompaniment. Sing along with familiar and new Jewish melodies from around the world. Stay for a pescatarian/dairy potluck Shabbat meal immediately after the service. (signup for potluck)
Shabbat Your Way (4th Friday, Sept-Jun)
On the fourth Friday of each month, we encourage the community to “do Shabbat” by hosting or having a Shabbat dinner at their own home or someone else’s.
Young Family “Shabbatluck” (occasional)
A kid-friendly Kabbalat Shabbat service and potluck dinner for families with children at a member’s home. Bring in Shabbat with songs followed by a pescatarian potluck Shabbat meal.
Taste of Shabbat Service & Potluck (occasional)
Taste of Shabbat blends a lively Kabbalat Shabbat service with a pescatarian potluck dinner at a member’s home. Often featuring our Park Street Band, this musical, congregant-led service is full of singing and spirit. It’s a wonderful opportunity for all ages to schmooze, meet new faces, welcome Shabbat, and enjoy delicious food together.
Traditional Shabbat Morning Service
(weekly, Saturday morning)
Traditional song-filled services which include: P'sukei D'zimra (verses of songs), Shacharit (morning prayers), Torah Service (full reading of weekly portion), and Musaf (additional service including the Amidah and Mourner's Kaddish). Transliterations and Translations are available. Services led by Rabbi Julie Roth and lay leaders.
Zamru Sat•AM Shabbat Service
(occasional Saturday mornings)
Join us for a joyous blend of our traditional Shabbat morning service, infused with the uplifting spirit of Zamru melodies. Experience Shabbat in a fresh yet familiar way as we come together in both new and traditional forms of prayer.
Shabbat Speaker
(occasional, Saturday morning)
Sometimes, we focus our service on a special theme with a featured talk by a guest speaker.
Torah Study
(weekly, Saturday morning, Sept-Jun)
We dive into the weekly Parasha (Torah portion). What will we discover? Sessions will be mostly lay-led with occasional guest appearances by Rabbi Julie and others. All levels of Judaic knowledge and background are welcome to attend.
Hinei Mah Tov Family Service
(monthly, Saturday morning, Sept-Jun).
Hinei Mah Tov (How good it is!) is a family service geared towards children (2nd-7th grade) and their parents, grandparents, and caregivers. All JLC students attend, but visitors with and without kids are always welcome to join us. This is a highly participatory Shabbat service, structured for learners, incorporating prayer, song, and discussion.
Shabbat Katan, Young Family Service
(monthly, Saturday morning, Sept-Jun)
Shabbat Katan (Shabbat for the little ones) is a joyful and engaging program geared toward families with pre-school aged and younger children (older siblings are welcome too). This 45-minute program includes songs, dancing, stories, a Torah parade, simple blessings, and challah and juice too! Bring your friends and meet other families with small children as we celebrate Shabbat! All are welcome, and synagogue membership is not required.
Weekday Minyan
(weekly, Sunday morning)
Lay-led weekday morning minyan in Hebrew and English, transliteration and translations available. It’s a mitzvah to help make the minyan to support those saying Kaddish. Service followed by bagels and coffee.
