From Captain Lynne:

We had a full house on Tuesday night, serving 20 guests at Shomrei’s MESH Cafe. The meal was a cooperative effort from several congregants who prepared most of the food in their homes and dropped their contributions at the synagogue in advance.

The meal included a delicious and warming red lentil soup from Merrill Silver, lovely multi vegetable salad and a scrumptious “Maui” sweet potato casserole both courtesy of Linda Ariel. Main course was panko Parmesan crusted tilapia prepared by yours truly and cornbread. Dessert was Deanna London’s moist and yummy honey cake with a little packet of chocolate/ peppermint candy for each guest to take home. They loved it… not a scrap leftover! Many thanks to all our superb and generous cooks and bakers! And thanks also to our helpers in the kitchen and with service: Linda Ariel, and youth helpers Jake, Rob, Sierra, Rachel, Noa F., and Alex. An interesting note, one of our guests told Linda Ariel that Linda’s sweet potato casserole reminded her of a dish her mother used to make and she said to Linda “thank you, Mom” with a smile on her face……
