MESH Report Jan 25, 2022

Freshly leftover deli from one of the meals served to our Rabbi candidate this past weekend provided the basis for picnic type grab and go bags for our MESH guests. Supplementing with smoked turkey breast, red cabbage and potatoes, Chef Lynne whipped up turkey, corned beef, roast beef and pastrami overstuffed sandwiches on rye, red and white cabbage slaw and potato salad.

Also included was Collin’s special homemade chocolate chip cookie, a cup of berries, banana, mini muffin, granola bar and water bottle. Oh, and don’t forget the pickle! Susan Rosenblatt was once again super sous chef, packer and chief bottle washer. Aileen also lent a hand.

Ehud stepped in at the last moment to transport the bags downstairs with MESH staffer, Joe Tyson. Thanks everyone.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
