MESH Report Feb 1, 2022

The mood in the Shomrei kitchen was as bright and sunny as the sky outside. Aileen Grossberg, with the expert help of Alex Kent, prepared a winter comfort meal for our MESH guests.

The take away bag was stuffed with an assortment of raw vegetables and pretzels with hummus for dipping, glazed meatloaf with baked beans, soft rye bread for those who might want to make a sandwich, 2 clementines, a piece of lemon cake and a snack bar. Appropriate condiments and a bottle of water completed the meal. The bag even contained a menu insert.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
