Report From Captain Lynne Kurzweil: 

On an unseasonably balmy night in late December, we welcomed 21 guests to the MESH Cafe at Shomrei.  Chef John Lasiter was in his usual top form, preparing a delicious meal for our IHN families and our MESH guests. Starter was Roasted Okra (try it….really tasty!), followed by a main course of BBQ Chicken, Italian Seasoned Roasted Potato Wedges, homemade Cole Slaw and homemade Corn Bread. Dessert was homemade Cherry Pastry.

Tiptop Shomrei helpers included Jerilyn Margulies, Aileen Grossberg, Adrienne Shulman-Lasiter, and teen helper Alan. Ever cheerful and helpful MESH staffers included Bonny, Adrienne and Sean. As a special gift to our female guests, each one was presented with a gently used handbag or backpack filled with toiletry and makeup items. The bags were a gift from a very generous Shomrei congregant.

We invited our guests to come back to Shomrei this Thursday night for a special Christmas Eve meal. Fourteen will be joining us, but it was heartwarming to hear that the rest had other places to go.
