(Formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network) Family Promise is a social action partner with Shomrei. They assist communities in developing comprehensive, holistic solutions for families facing homelessness.
The general budget supports Shomrei's day-to-day operations and all its programs.
Help us keep our open-door policy for the High Holy Days. Your donation helps cover additional costs for accommodating large crowds, allowing us to keep our High Holy Day services free and open to the public.
Provide a new Siddur ($36, prayer book), Machzor ($54, High Holiday prayer book) or Chumash ($72, bound Torah) for use in services. Each book includes an inscription on the inside cover.

The Mensch Squad provides food, transport, supplies and other support to fellow members in times of need.
The Carol Starr MESH Cafe provides meals for people in crisis. Meals are provided every Tuesday by our volunteers in association with MESH (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless). Your donation helps to support this program.
Shiva support donations provide meals and other support for members who are sitting Shiva (in mourning) for a loved one.
The Shomrei Israel Fund will fund mental or physical health for the people of Israel. Examples might include ambulances, ”medicycles” and mental health programs. Donations will be disbursed in Israel via 501 (c) (3) charities chartered in the US.
Funds are raised during Hannukah to help families reestablish and reequip their new homes after leaving homeless services provided by the Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network). Your donation is given to the families in the form of "scrip" or a gift card to a grocery store or home goods store.
Funds are raised to pay for a security guard during public events and services when our front door is open and unlocked.
Donations support the Jewish Learning Center (Hebrew School) as well as other youth activities and events at Shomrei.
The Alan Lampert Memorial Library Fund is a separately endowed fund and not part of the congregation's finances or budget and is dependent on donations. The fund is administered solely by the Librarian as a Trustee and is used for purchases and improvements to the collection. Deductions are tax-deductible and you will receive a donation receipt from the Librarian. However, because any donation to the fund is outside Shomrei bookkeeping, it will not be included in your Member Tax Statement at the end of the year.
The Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund is a separate fund and not part of the congregation's finances or budget and is totally dependent on donations. The fund is administered solely by the Rabbi and is used for aid to the needy, social action and other causes at the Rabbi’s discretion. Because any donation to the fund is outside Shomrei's bookkeeping it will not be included in your Member Tax Statement at the end of the year.
