Lampert Library

Books are Best

books are great 1Notes From the Lampert Library

Hanukkah’s just a few days away. Books always make great gifts whether you buy hard copies, download to an electronic device, or listen to a book on CD or another format.

Children never tire of being read to, even if they pretend that they are not interested. Revive reading aloud as a family. Everyone loves a good story.

Check the Lampert Library’s new book shelves. We are always adding new titles for all ages and interests.

For book giving ideas The Jewish Book Council has some great suggestions and lots of topical lists (jewishbookcouncil.org).

books are great 2By the way, there is also a virtual National Jewish Book Club. Information is available on the Jewish Book Council website.

books are great 3The Association of Jewish Libraries is also a good resource. There are suggested bibliographies and links to book related sites (jewishlibraries.org).

You can also search by subject on Amazon.

Feel free to email me for suggestions for both adults and children ().

And don’t forget that free, always there resource…the public library.

Happy Reading!

Aileen Grossberg, a professional librarian, is a long-time congregant and serves as volunteer librarian for Shomrei's Lampert Library. The library, one of the best-kept secrets at Shomrei is used by the Rabbi, congregants, students and teachers of the JLC (Hebrew School) and Preschool. It's a tremendous resource completely supported by your donations and gifts. Aileen also heads the Shomrei Caterers, the in-house food preparation group. Can there be any better combination…good food and good books!
