After months of anticipation and mounds of boxes waiting to be unpacked, the Lampert Library is again ready for operation.
Thanks to a hard working crew of volunteers, almost all the books were put back on the shelves in a week’s time. There’s still some adjusting to be done but our library looks like a library again.
Here’s what it looked like as numerous volunteers- including some who were camera shy- sorted and shelved:

Aileen Grossberg, a professional librarian, is a long-time congregant and serves as volunteer librarian for Shomrei's Lampert Library. The library, one of the best-kept secrets at Shomrei is used by the Rabbi, congregants, students and teachers of the JLC (Hebrew School) and Preschool. It's a tremendous resource completely supported by your donations and gifts. Aileen also heads the Shomrei Caterers, the in-house food preparation group. Can there be any better combination…good food and good books!

Bravo to Aileen for coordinating the fantastic effort to re-shelve the library books, while battling an infection during the process! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you, Bill. It was a tremendous GROUP effort, impossible without all those volunteers.

Reshelving books (and taking an occasional peek inside the books) reminded me what a treasure our synagogue library is. Special thanks to Aileen for keeping the library current, accessible and well-cared for.
