MESH Report for December 22-23, 2025

It was a skeleton crew for MESH.  School vacation began and Superhero Jordan was the only teen available to help with MESH on Monday afternoon.  Jordan and Fern got it all done, and in just 2 hours.

Jordan did most of the heavy lifting – preparing the string bean salad and packing the bags.  Fern, in the meanwhile, cooked the chicken and rice (and was also the dishwasher).

On Tuesday, new member Leslie Billet met Fern in the kitchen to heat up the chicken and rice, and do the final packing.  Gerry Blume came by to help finish and do the food delivery to The Office.

We served fifty bags which consisted of: Honey-glazed chicken, rice, string bean salad, Kaiser roll, protein bar, tangerine, chocolate chip cookies, and a bottle of water.

Thank you to all the MESH volunteers.
Happy Secular New Year!

Cheers,
Fern

About MESH

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.

Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food. For those interested in volunteering who are not available on Tuesday afternoons, we are brainstorming different ways to make it work.  Let us know what would work for you.
