MESH Report for January 27, 2026
On a bitterly cold Tuesday, Carol and Andy Blau led the MESH volunteers in the cooking of 50 meals.
They were very grateful to once again partner with Sarah Steindel, a very organized & seasoned MESH volunteer. First-time volunteers Fran & Mike Legman seamlessly joined in the cooking by assisting the team. The menu consisted of roasted chicken breast, potatoes, & stir fried vegetables. The vegan recipients were provided Beyond Burger Meatballs in marinara sauce. We were able to provide cookies for dessert that Collin Brooks so graciously donated.
Please consider volunteering for MESH. (see below)
About MESH
The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.
Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food. For those interested in volunteering who are not available on Tuesday afternoons, we are brainstorming different ways to make it work. Let us know what would work for you.

Additionally, each Monday afternoon, we deliver any usable food leftover from Kiddish to MESH.
Volunteer at the MESH Site
Volunteers are also welcome to help serve food 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm at the MESH site. Due to a burst pipe at the MESH site at 619 Bloomfield Ave, MESH will be meeting temporarily at the Union Baptist Church.
