L’shana Tovah to All!
Coming directly after Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the Shomrei MESH team decided to repeat the meal we prepared two weeks ago because:
#1 It was easy
#2 It required no additional creativity
#3 It was well received by our MESH guests!
Team members Sarah Steindel, Alex Kent, Joan Zief, Linda Wieseneck and Captain Lynne Kurzweil made quick work of the tasks. The meal included Martin’s Turkey Burgers on Buns with Lettuce and Tomato Slices and ketchup cup, Baked Beans, Semi-Homemade Cole Slaw, and Clementines. New MESH volunteer Lois Waldman baked and delivered yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies and packed them in little dessert bags with Hershey Kisses and caramels. A water bottle and cutlery pack rounded out the meal bag.
46 Turkey Burger meals and 4 Vegan meals (substituting Beyond Burgers and Vegan Cole Slaw and Oreos) were delivered by Linda Wieseneck and Lynne Kurzweil.
We cook for MESH the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Next up is Tuesday, October 13, when Fern Heinig will be supervising Teen MESH. That sign-up is complete; however, the next date in October, 10/27, and every second and fourth Tuesday going forward is available! Please sign up to help- no cooking experience required- just good will.

Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food. For those interested in volunteering who are not available on Tuesday afternoons, we are brainstorming different ways to make it work. Let us know what would work for you.

Additionally, each Monday afternoon, we deliver any usable food leftover from Kiddish to MESH.
Volunteer at the (Temporary) MESH Site
Volunteers are also welcome to help serve food 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm at the MESH site. Due to a burst pipe at the MESH site at 619 Bloomfield Ave, MESH will be meeting temporarily at the Union Baptist Church.
