MESH Report, Sept 22, 2026
It was so much fun in the Shomrei kitchen this week as the team of Alex Kent, Leslie Billet, Linda Wieseneck and Lynne Kurzweil prepared 50 meals for MESH. We divided the tasks with Alex and Leslie preparing Turkey Meatloaf with BBQ sauce. Linda prepared and portioned the Cole slaw, Lynne heated and portioned the Baked Beans and everyone pitched in with packing up the rolls, clementines, Oreo cookies (2 varieties) and water bottles. Our 4 vegetarian/vegans enjoyed veggie burgers and roasted carrots with the rest of the items. Clean up was a joint effort as was packing up Lynne’s car for delivery.
As always, Joe Granger, MESH Executive Director, unloaded the bags with the help of several MESH guests.
Lots of open slots on the signup sheet. Come join the fun! www.shomrei.org/mesh
Many thanks to the Carol Starr MESH Fund for helping to underwrite these meals.

About MESH
Shomrei thanks the Carol Starr MESH Fund for helping to underwrite these meals. MESH (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a community-wide cooperative effort between local synagogues and churches.
Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food. For those interested in volunteering who are not available on Tuesday afternoons, we are brainstorming different ways to make it work. Let us know what would work for you.

Additionally, each Monday afternoon, we deliver any usable food leftover from Kiddish to MESH.
Volunteer at the (Temporary) MESH Site
Volunteers are also welcome to help serve food 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm at the MESH site. Due to a burst pipe at the MESH site at 619 Bloomfield Ave, MESH will be meeting temporarily at the Union Baptist Church.
